Open Registry Explorer with a folder tree by default

Tweak #37 - july 4, 2002

When you open the Registry icon on the desktop, the root Registry folder is shown without the left folder pane.

This tweak changes this behavior and makes the folders tree show up on the left.

The tweak

Go to the registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{59F96530-871E-11D3-BD55-00A0C9A341EC}

This is the CLSID for Registry Explorer.

In this key, make the following subkey:

shell

Set the default value to:

Tree

This makes the verb Tree the default verb.
Now we still have to create this verb.

In the shell key, create the following subkey:

Tree

Set the default value of the Tree key to

Open with Tree

In the Tree key, make the following subkey:

command

In the command key, set the default value to the following:

Explorer.exe /e,/idlist,%I

The tweak is now completed and will take effect immediately.
